Cache problem on NFS mounted files ?

Hello managers !

I have a problem with the visibility of changed attributes of files on NFS
mounted filesystems (Solaris 7 -> True64 5.0, NFS V3 on AdvFS):

When I change the access permission of a file on the Sun, this change gets
not visible on the ES40 even after waiting several minutes. The filesystem
is mounted with these parameters:

sun:/export/home1/user on /home/user type nfs (v3, rw, nosuid, udp, soft, intr,
actimeo=3)

So it should be synchronized after 3 seconds, if I understand the man pages
correctly. Instead, I must remount the filesystem to see the change.

To make things more interesting, directory permission changes are visible
within the specified time limit !?

What's wrong here ? A problem with filesystem caches ?

Thanks in advance for any answers !
