restoring a backup to another ALPHA CPU

Dear Managers,

I'm a novice TRU64 UNIX user but grown old with OpenVMS.
With VMS it's easy to move from a ALPHA platform with CPU 'A' to one with a
CPU 'B'. Simple using Backup /image.

But with Tru64 UNIX there is a small problem:
Panic (cpu 0); Unsupported CPU type in scc_cons_init.

1. With dump I made a backup from the file systems (/, /usr /var) of an
ALPHA 1000
2. On an ALPHA 250 (with same (empty) disks types) I booted the OS CD
3. Created the needed devices (MAKEDEV)
4. Added standard disk labels and changes the disk labels according the
original ones.
5. restore the file systems
6. Boot generated the Panic message

Does anybody knows a way how to learn the system the other CPU? or
does anybody know how to deal with restoring to different platforms (of the
same CPU type)

Thanks a lot in advance,
