I am not much of a guru on tru64 unix. I have some background on Solaris
and Hp. Anyway my question is in reference to the chown command. When this
command is executed the result output is very strange and incorrect.

I am trying to create a directory for a user and his group. As root I type

chown username directoryname

The returning out put is that the directory has changed ownership.....to a
totally different username than I supplied. It returns with a username that
isn't even on the system.

Inputs welcomed

thanks in advance
