error running monitor

I have been running monitor on version 4.0g since May of 2000 without any
problems.
I noticed today (this could have been an issue in the past couple of weeks)
that while running monitor the following error occurs:

                monitor: cpu.c: Can't allocate space for CPU structures:
Invalid argument

Does anyone know what the problem may be??
