umount nfs mounted system after nfs server is gone?

I mounted a file system from a linux server on a alpha station running
Digital UNIX V4.0D. The linux machine was rebooted now I cant do a
"df" on the alpha as it hangs. I cant umount the file system as I get
"/tmpmnt: Device busy"

I dont want to reboot.

Im sure someone knows the easy answer to this.
