Many thanks for pointers from Ian Mortimer and Steve VanDevender.
Here is my original posting with my solution below it:
Greetings,
I have an Alpha server GS140, 6 EV6 processors, 12GB of memory and 3.5TB of
DASD running Tru64 version 4.0F patch kit 3.
I am trying to upgrade sendmail on this server from 8.8.8 to 8.10.2 as
required by my latest security audit. I am unable to get
the Build to complete as it errors out complaining about: -lldap30
I haven't been able to find ldap30 anywhere and am really unsure what the
build is wanting. I upgraded my Tru64 Version 5.1
workstation to 8.10.2 without any problems. It is evident that upgrading an
older O/S level requires this ldap30 file or library.
Has anyone out there had any experience in upgrading sendmail on a 4.0F box?
Where can I find this ldap30 file or how can
I get around it. The ldap30 file is NOT on my version 5.1 workstation and I
haven't been able to find it on the web. I am running C2 security.
Solution:
I simply took out the references to ldap from within the OSF1 file in the OS
directory. I ran the Build and it compiled just fine. The remainder of the
install went fairly smoothly and is now working well as I have verified it
by sending mail to myself at another address outside the server. Other
details?
I can't remember them all since I was "poking around" in all the files of
sendmail to find what I needed to take out. Man....what I could do if I just
had
some DOCUMENTATION....!!!!!!!!
Thank You,
