Hi Managers

I have a customer who wrote a script to backup a list of files using the tar
command, He first creates a list of files using ls and then in a loop he
first :- tar -cv and then tar -rv till the list is empty.

The problem is if he started with the big files first the backup takes very
long time and I understand that because the tape is rewinding after each
file.

Backing up the files manually takes less than two hours !
The files is about 14 files, two of them is more than 1 G.

I am sure there must be hundreds of ways to do it right, I am looking only
for some of them.
(written scripts would be much better :)

I am sorry but I know nothing about writing scripts.

Them M/C is AS1200 running Tru64 5.0A

Thanks for your help.
