Guys, I have an older (ok, ancient) DEC 2000/300 that has been running
fine since 1993(?) and it just recently decided that it will not boot.
I've rebooted it a few times since I can't get any response and I have
only one bit of information to go on ... the diagnostic LEDs on back -
the 0, 1 and 2 LEDs are lit red, 3 is unlit. The other system I still
have of this vintage that is running flawlessly has none of these lit.
I have dug through all of the online documentation that I can find - a
rather large amount given that there's been people porting Linux and a
couple BSD flavors to this platform - but no one seems to give me real
detail of the diagnostic LED panel. The closest I've found is the old
hardware reference manual that directs me to a "hardware service info-
rmation" document for an explanation of the diagnostic LEDs ... but it
doesn't appear to be available online in any of the sites I've found.
Anyone know what I'm in for with 3 of the 4 LEDs lit? 75% dead?? I'm
willing to put in some time with this system to resurrect it, but if I
am doomed, I wouldn't mind knowing from the start. Thanks!
andrew.
