Questions on UNIX Backups of Huge File System

I am new to UNIX coming from a VMS environment where BACKUP was
the single tool and recognized (with no extra work) a tape stacker such
as a TZ877 and multi-cartridge backups.
I have UNIX v5.1 and a single TZ877 cartridge tape stacker local
to the system. I have a file system that can potentially reach the size
of 20-30 Gbytes of data or more. I am looking at the choices for doing
full and incremental backups comparing NetWorker SingleServer Save and
Restore versus vdump/vrestore. All of my file systems are AdvFs.
Does anyone have experience with multi-tape backups with either
of these tools? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? What
are the limitations for vdump with multi-tape backups? Has anyone had
success with vdump for this environment? I will be in a TruCluster v5.1
environment also, and wonder about any problems with the CDSL's for the
cluster - whether either tool has a problem with maintaining the links
on a full or incremental restore.
Any hints or warnings that you can provide will be appreciated.
If you will email directly to me, I will summarize for the list.
                        Thanks, Jenny Butler
