Thru manpages, I got hostname back.
Thought these two were related, so I snapped!!!
Still having problems with the first part(df/du)
Thanks Pat Obrien for your quick response too.
Hi, I have two problems, related??.....not sure:
1. I realized a big descrepancy between df -k and du
-k.
-s_at_/usr/users/mollel$ df -k /scit
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available
Use% Mounted on
hsz50_2#usr3 106589016 74311908 32277108
70% /scit
-s_at_/usr/users/mollel$ s du -sk /scit
11132708 /scit
-s_at_/usr/users/mollel$
No idea what is wrong here. Server used primarily for
storage, just noticed problem after it used less tapes
for backup.
2. Well, while pooking around, used commands
"dxsysinfo" and "sysman config_file", nothing unusual
that I noticed. Then I logged out, logging back in,
the hostname is gone!!!!!
This is the message I get after login:
/usr/bin/X11/xauth: (stdin):1: bad display name
"-s:10.0" in "add" command
No mail.
-s_at_/usr/users/mollel$
And when I type "hostname" I get:
-s
-s_at_/scit$
(-s_at_/scit because I have in .profile:PS1="`hostname|
cut -f 1 -d .`_at_\$PWD$ ")
Any idea what might have caused this, and how to fix
it?
Alpha2100 running 4.0G, no patches yet, waiting to
take it 5.1.
For df and du problem, checked archives, nothing like
it. What is the way to locate/map physical disks to
device names, disks located in Alpha2100 drawer?? I
would like to label them to know which is where. I
have one disk with an amber light on (guess has always
been that way, might be my initial problem??,
inherited system)
Thanks in advance.
