bugs in mount command?

On lots of system's I've seen the following problems with mounting NFS
disks:-

1. mount -at nfs loops, and trys to mount the disks many times.

this happens if one or more servers are down while the machine is trying
to mount disks listed in the fstab. Sometimes if this goes unchecked it
can fill the process table with 'mount -at nfs' commands.

2. an NFS volume gets mounted up in the wrong place

All our nfs disks live under /nfs, sometimes (I've seen it 3 or 4 times
today) an NFS volume will get mounted on /nfs on top of already mounted
disks. It's not consistant which disk will get mounted here - but it leads
to some very strange effects!

Has anyone else seen either of these behaviours?

Thanks,

Jonathan
