A new DS20E (666 HMz, 2-cpu, 3072 MB ram, V5.58-10 console firmware) on
which I've installed DU 4.0F from a CD (4/99) fails to recognize its
internal network card, a DE600-AA. I've determined that the "new
hardware delivery" procedure needs to be followed to install the
necessary kernel modules. Accordingly, I've acquired 'NHD3' and am
attempting to install it onto a spare local disk and configure a new
kernel, as per the procedures in the 4/00 release notes and
instructions.
However, at the point where the NHD3 kernel modules are being loaded
from the CDFS filesystem on the spare local disk, an error message is
shown after the system has counted down from module 25 to module 12,
and the system halts. The error message is:
"Internal limit reached in OSF_BOOT: Out of space for
compressed relocations."
The OSF_BOOT file in the newly created CDFS filesystem on the spare
local disk is identified as date Feb 23, 2000 (89344 bytes). That on
the system disk is dated Apr 12, 1999 (88640 bytes).
I can find nothing in the archives related to this problem. Once
again I throw myself on the tender mercies of this mailing list.
Thanks for any pointers.
