I'm trying to connect a HP C5683A DDS-4 tape (actually bought at
transtec as a T71DL4000T with the named tape device in it).
Connecting it to the scsi-bus and scanning the bus for the device came
out with no problems. But, I cannot access the device

The SCSI-hostadapter is a Qlogic ISP1040B/V2. The kernel says at boot:
isp0 at pci1 slot 2

Created the *rmt* devices (should be tz24 - bus 1 target 8). Added a DDR
entry in /etc/ddr.dbase . Look like the COMPAQ device listed there.
But whatever I do, whatever devices I create, I had no luck accessing
the tape either with dd nor with tar (correct flags -f <dev> appended -
of course).
Even the kernel does not recognize the device in the boot message.
