Thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction. I am kind of new at
this Unix thing.

The no-rewind devices are in /dev/ntape for the Tru64 5.1 Everyone that
responded agreed that using /dev/ntape was better than the -N option. That
is working well.

Thanks to all who responded.

Subject: vdump of several filesets

Hello,

I am trying to dump several file sets to a single tape device. When I
attempt to use the -N option, I continuously get a core dump. I am running
Tru64 5.1 patchkit 2. Here is the command I am using:
vdump -C -0 -N -u -f /dev/tape/tape0_d1 /
Memory fault - core dumped

5.1 does not appear to have the no-rewind devices. Is anyone else
having this problem? How else can I get multiple filesets on a tape?

Thanks,
Dawn Urey
