NFS Problems

Fellow managers,

Not a TU specific question exactly but one that you may have experienced.
Occasionally we will loose a server due to unforeseen circumstances, if this
box had filesystems that were NFS mounted on another platform then that
platform experiences problems because NFS can no longer talk to the box that
is down.

Command like df -k and ls -l of / appear to hang until they timeout.

Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to go to the extreme of
rebooting. Can any daemons be killed and restarted to resolve the issue ?

Regards,
Mike.
