Rebuilding kernel in V5.1

     Sorry if this is an extremely silly question but
     
     Do I need to rebuild the kernel as we used to in V4.0x to see new
     devices/controller or not in V5.1? I thought that you would always
     have to do that. Or is it really dynamic and add devices as it sees
     them?
