Hello and thanks to all who responded. I figured that I am one of the only
people who are running this program on an Alpha. Most of everybody else that
runs it are running AIX.

Main Jist of answers.
The more relevant question is whether your version of "acucobol" supports
V4.0G. If it's working on V4.0E, there is relatively little risk that it
won't work on V4.0G, but unless the vendor tested it and issued some kind
of statement of support, if you hit a problem, they (and we) are likely
to say "sorry, it's your problem"

Run ccbl -v from the acucobol/bin directory. This will give the version.

I'm running Tru 64 4.0g with Acucobol. If you check their website, you
should be able to find out what you need for sure. This link will (should)
take you to the port page listing the versions and OS's supported.
http://www.acucorp.com/Solutions/Portlist/acugt-devsys.htm
At least on my box, I can type
runcbl -v
ACUCOBOL-GT runtime version 4.2.0 + ECNs 1081, 1098, 1101, 1121
which will return the above line (or similar) with the version of Acucobol
and any patchs (ECNs) that have been loaded.

I have Micro Focus cobol. it has a file called "cobver" do a 'find' for
that.
# find / -name cobver -print
'more' that file if you find it. it has the version info for micro
focus.... might be worth a try.
Poke around in the executable directory. Usually things are named after
the release version.

Original question
Simple question. (I hope) I am running tru64-unix 4.0e and I need to
know about acucobol. I need to find out if 4.0g supports our version. That
is my problem. How do I know what version I have??

 Thanks
