Clearing temp files

When I boot some of my servers it hangs at the Clearing temporary files for
long periods of time. One of them is like 45 minutes. Does anyone know
what I need to change to clear out less files. I have a GS80 that only
spends seconds there, but a ES40 that spends a good 10 min.
