SUMMARY: Networking Stopped Working

Thanks to everybody.

I have a DEC 3000 M500 box that is running Tru64 UNIX 5.
Its got a DEC Lance Ethernet Interface.
The Ethernet stopped working mysteriously, and since the computer is so
old, there was no way to get the data off. The solution was to use the AUI
port on the back and use a transceiver (I luckily found one in the back of
a drawer). Then you have to use the console commands to set it to use the
AUI port.
which are:
SHOW ETHERNET (which displays its setting)
SET ETHERNET THICK (sets it to the AUI port)

Thanks to all the people that gave me some hints:
Derek Tegeler
Ron Parker
Thomas Blinn
And one more who put no name

Special thanks to Graham Allan who told me about the AUI port, and how to
set it to use the AUI port
