Apparently the only documentation that folks know about for Insight is
online or on the Compaq Management CD (thanks to Debra LaGattuta):
There is an online manual that is incorporated with Compaq Insight
Manager as well as documentation that is distributed with the Compaq
Management CD. The Compaq Management CD is available through a
subscription service.
Regarding the online documentation, point the browser to a (V5.0 or
later) system and the 2301 port.
For example,
http://YourSystemName.com:2301
>From there, select the Compaq Management Agents icon in the body of the
screen. That will summon another window that is comprised of 3 panes: a
top left, a lower left, and a large right. In the top left pane, there
is a link labelled "Agent Help". Select that to open the online
documentation.
As far as System Monitoring Tools go, the overwhelming favorite is Big
Brother (
http://bb4.com). Honorable mentions also go to Performance
Visualiser (
http://www.compaq.com/hpc/software/pvsrc.html), Performance
Manager itself, the monitor tool on the OSIS disk, and mrtg. Other
suggestions included Patrol, Tivoli, Openview, etc.
