I need to clear out some space under the /usr filesystem on a little 4.0f
box. Sorting a du of /usr shows a lot of space taken up by log files under
/usr/var/adm/smlogs. I can't find a reference to these logs anywhere that I
can find. After reviewing some of these logs, like the setld log for
example, it appears that some of these log files might be truncated or
nulled in order to free up space.
However, I'm reluctant to do so before consulting you, the experts.
Can these files be safely truncated in order to reclaim space?
TIA,
Bill Evans, UNIX System Administrator
