It seems there is no known way for a user to reset the SRM console password
on an XP1000. Compaq have changed the mainboard in this machine in order to
solve this problem.
Cheers,
Vinh.

Thanks to those who replied with suggestion. I've tried them, but these
methods don't reset the console password.
There were suggestions that the RTC/NVRAM could be reset by setting pins 2-3
on jumper J28. After setting this jumper, the system boots into the NT BIOS
system console. I switched the default back to the UNIX SRM console via the
bios settings->advance menu, however once back at the UNIX SRM console, the
console password is still there.
I've sent an email to Compaq Support, and will post a summary once I receive
a reply.
Regards,
Vinh.

Subject: Sec: U How to reset SRM console password on XP1000
Hello,
I've forgotten the console password on one of our XP1000 workstations. I've
tried pressing the HALT button and then pressing ENTER at the 'Please enter
the password:' prompt, but this doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something
wrong, or does the XP1000 use a different method to reset the password?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks & regards,
Vinh.
