Hi,

thanks to all who respoonded:

I don't have much experience with dupatch and therefore
I asked if I could apply single patches out of an aggregate
patch.

The general opinion was, one should try, dupatch will tell
dependencies. One answer was "be aware that Compac strongly
recommends tat all patches are applied"

Regards
Otto

------------------------------------------------
Follow-up was:
in the patch 8 (AS type) to V4.0D I could locate a patch
OSFPAT00108600425 (Fixes in AdvFS panic)
where between a lot of other patches also is mentioned that
it corrects the vdump message "can't reset atime".

My question:
- can I apply only this patch to my V4.0d (patch-level 4 (AS))?
- or could there be dependencies to other patches?

------------------------------------------------
Original Question:
As one finds in the archives the problem is that in vdump atime gives
errors with nfs mounted disks(e.g. ../1999-09/msg00377.html). Probably
introduced with Patch 4 to V4.0D(This is the status of the system
where I run the backups). I looked at Patch 8 but I found no particular
patch addressing that problem.

Question:
- are there some patches in patch 8 and which ones? (I don't want
and cannot in the moment run this whole really time consuming patch 8)
- or is there a single patch available?

Reason: The log files of my backups during the night reach by all the
error messages some 10 to 30MB and are so quite unusable (and the mails
fill up the root file system).

PS: One general question: If I want to apply patch 8 to a system with
patch 4 can I do this directly or do I have to remove the old patch
before?
