Hi list!
I asked a similar question some time ago, but this time I can narrow
down the problem a bit more (many thanks to Justin Richardson).
Setup: A TruCluster 5.1, both machines have a GBit Ethernet card.
Only the default cluster alias is in use. No vmac, no virtual
subnet.
Problem: A failure of the Gbit card of one member makes all services
that are running on or serviced by this member
inaccessable. This member has no connection to the outside
world.
The cluster has a static default route configured (entry in
/etc/routes).
I can see this route with netstat -rn and its marked static. When I
unplug the network card, after ~30 seconds the default route gets
deleted.
When I manually delete the default route before unplugging the
network and issue netstat -rn after a while a default route throgh the
memory channel is displayed. When I now unplug the network everything
works as expected.
To sum it all up:
If I do have a default route in /etc/routes it doesnot work.
If I donot have a default route in /etc/routes it does work.
How do I set up a default route in a cluster???
Does our default gateway have to speak RIP? If it did, could we live
without a default route on the cluster and be happy??
