Running the /sbin/init.d/syslog" gave the error,
"/sbin/init.d/syslog: test: argument expected"
but after trying to run "/usr/sbin/syslog" manually, it
told me that /usr/sbin/syslogd daemon was not
running and had to be started first. I started
"/usr/sbin/syslogd" and now I'm able to get
the syslog.dated log files.
