Well, after some more suggestions I did a clean install of 5.1 and
everything is working fine.
Something got messed up when I did the install update but a clean install
fixed it. Since this is a test machine it isn't that big of a deal but
when I go live with my main servers I certainly will be a little nervous.

Original Question:
>I installupdated my AlphaStation 400 4/233 from 4.0f to 4.0g to 5.1. I
found the following >question in the archives which describes my problem
but there was no summary. Could >the person who submitted the question or
anyone who can help me? Thanks in advance.

>I've got an AlphaStation 200 4/233 that I've just upgraded from 4.0d to
4.0g to 5.1. It boots >fine, but the console is dead - except for the login
screen, which it paints just fine. No >mouse action, no keyboard action.
nada. But I can telnet to the system so I know it's >alive.... So, I
suspect my graphics adapter. I've looked at the graphics adapter and it's
from >Number Nine Corporation but I can't find a DEC part number (it does
have an S3 Trio64 >chip - whatever that is!). The old documentation I've
got says the graphics card should be >ZLXp-E1, but I don't know if that's
what I've got. The release notes for Tru64UNIX 5.1 talks >about no support
for various PowerStorm graphics adapters...... Any suggestions?
