Color Depth

I've got an XP 1000 with an ELSA Gloria Synergy 8mb graphics card and
a P1100 monitor (_at_1024x768) and 4.0g.

1. How can I tell what the color depth is set to?

2. How can I increase the color depth if it isn't as high as possible?
