Hi managers,
we ran out of storage so I decided to buy the next hard drive for our
AS1200.
As you may see from the table below there are already 4 internal storage
works hard drives installed (rz8 - rz11). At the external connector of
the ISP I installed a HP DAT-4 tape drive (id 6). Further equippment in
detail in the table below:

My problem is to install the 5th drive into the 5th storage works bay
(No 1 to 4 are used by drive 1 to 4). If I put in the 5th drive, the SRM
does not see the drive. According to the description the bays are hot
swappable. I swept in the new drive while the OS is running (The drives
2 - 4 have been installed this way - while running the system in
multiuser mode throwing in the drives, config and addvol while system is
running and nothing happend to the system).
But when istalling the 5th drive, the system will not respond anymore.
Removing the drive everything is ok, the machine continues to work.
I remember from my brain mem there is some repeater device between slot
4 and 5 of the storage works bays. I thougt I read something about
twiddeling with this when using the lower 3 storage works bays - but
couldn't find anything whether in the printed docs or _at_Compaq.
So, is there someone who uses or had used a AS1200 with all storage
works bays equipped with hard drives and can give me a hint how to
deploy the nex drive?
