Error might be caused by bug in device driver if it doesn't think erase is a valid command on that SCSI tape drive.

All suggested using scu
# scu -f /dev/nrmt0h
scu> mt erase
scu> quit



Original Question: mt erase produces an error:
/dev/nrmt0h erase 1 failed: no such device or address

Other mt functions work fine what's up with erase? 4.0F on XP1000, DS20, and ES40 with TLZ10 4mm DDS 3 tape drive.
