8-bit problems with mailx

Hi!

I have some misconfiguration somwehere but I can't understand where.

Situation as follows:

If I send a file containing 8-bit characters with mailx from the
commandline I get a mail with these headers added (in respect to a a 7-bit
mail):

MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=unknown-8bit
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

However some users insist on using local Exchange-servers and they get
funny effects with the 'charset=unknown-8bit'-thing. I've tried adding
'set excode=sv_SE.ISO8859-1' into my $HOME/.mailrc-file to get it to use
ISO-8859-1 but that doesn't seem to help, I still the very same
headers. What am I missing here? Is it sendmail or mailx that is
incorrectly configured?
