Thanks to Phil Baldwin and Werner Rost for their response.

Both suggested separating the jobs to fit on single tapes and use commands to eject and load the next tape before continuing with the next vdump.
The mt -f /dev/rmtxx offline (works in 4.0F) or
mcutil commands available with 5.1

This would allow the use of the autoloader without having to purchase Networker.
