Both suggested check the obvious: permission's on /usr/spool/mail. I had forgotten I modified /usr/spool/mail
my cops output reported /usr/spool/mail was world writable... I fixed the cops report, broke mail. EHHHH!!!!
Thanks guys!

11:04 AM Subject: Mail - cannot create mail lock
file /usr/spool/mail/username.lock
Hi Group,
Has anyone seen this error message before. I have sendmail-8.8.8 installed but disabled by moving
startup script and adding entry in crontab (00 * * * * /usr/sbin/sendmail -q). If I ps -ef | grep sendmail no process is
running. This what I expect. If I remove the crontab entry and start /sbin/rc3.d/S40sendmail.start.
I still receive this error. Does anyone have any ideas?
