DNS is just not my friend these days. This is a completely separate problem from yesterday. So anyway--in further attempts to test out the new network layout, our network people asked us to change the DNS entry for www.telecharge.com. Easy enough, we change DNS entries all the time. So I go to the current DNS server (which is also running NIS), and I modify the /var/yp/src/hosts file by changing the IP address. Then I go ../make, and then change the serial number by going to /etc/namedb and doing a "make" there. So I figured I was done--I ping www.telecharge.com from the DNS server--and it comes up with the old IP address still. That's weird I thought--so I went to a few PCs and pinged, and they too still see the old IP address--so I figured the DNS is screwed up. I tried one last thing and did an nslookup from both of the slave DNS servers--and they see the NEW IP address no problem!! So now I'm just confused. I figure the host file must be correct for the slave servers to be functioning. So I figure there must be something else to change on the primary server. I don't know why it isn't working--we add/change IP addresses all the time and they always take effect no problem. Please help!!! Thanks in advance.
