Ok...i've received a bunch of responses, but it's still not working. Based on the responses I've tried the following:
restarted named
restarted rcinet
some people suggested that it takes time for the change to propogate through the systems, but it's been 4.5 hours now. Others seem a bit confused with what is happening, so let me rephrase it:
i changed the ip address on the primary DNS server. When I do an nslookup on that server (which is pointing at itself for resolution), I get the old IP address back. When I do an nslookup on the slave DNS servers (which are also pointing at themselves for resolution), I get the correct IP address. All of the clients (which use the primary DNS server) get the old IP address as well. Some people suggested manually editing the hosts.db file, and change the IP address there, but this is what the file looks like:
localhost IN A 127.0.0.1
"hosts-0" IN CNAME localhost
www IN CNAME www.telecharge.com.
I don't see an IP address on the line to change. The hosts.db file on the slave servers looks just like this, and they work fine. I hope this clears up the problem for some people, and hopefully somebody can help me. Thanks again in advance.
