Hello Tru64 Unix managers:
In my office, I have a Personal Workstation 433au running Tru64 Unix 4.0d
on it which I use as my primary desktop system. Until now, it has been
working well. It is sitting on a 100-baseT network. This morning, I
rearanged my office and I had to move the system to the other side
of the room.
The system starts up just fine, but for some reason, when I try to invoke
the CDE environment as root with the /sbin/init.d/xlogin command, nothing
happens other than the word "Done" appearing on the screen. There does not
appear to be any network problems. In fact, I am using it now via the old
DEC GUI /usr/bin/X11/xdm to post this message. The system starts up, does
its usual stuff after I type "boot" at the firmware prompt and it looks
fine. This is a fairly vanilla system as far as its configuration is
concerned. No errors appear in the log files either, all the disk
partitions are mounted, and I can ping other systems.
Any suggestions on how I can get xlogin to work will be appreciated.
