5.0A / TruCluster severe performance problem (Oracle/Baan)

Hello all,

We run BaanIVc4 / Oracle 8.1.6 on two ES40 (4CPU, 4GB RAM each)
w. 5.0A, TruCluster 5, shared storage over HSG80.

Oracle runs on one, Baan on the other machine: extreme slowness
at initial tests. Currently both apps run on one machine to
eliminate cluster-related problems. Baan and CPQ cases are open,
with no results so far (CPQ says the cluster is ok, Baan did not
say anything yet).

Accessing Oracle directly, we get around 20MB/s over the HSG. To
Oracle through the Baan app, it's down to a few MB at max, mostly
only a few 100k. CPU load is generally nil (10% or below), while
the users sit and wait. Even when there is load, it is only on one
CPU (typically 100% user), the others remain idle, and still no
disk throughput.

Does anybody else here run a similar configuration, or are there
rules-of-thumb for kernel/system tuning parameters to work from?

Thanks for your time.
