In making changes to our network I inadvertently changed the IP in rc.config
for
IFCONFIG_0 to the same value as the gateway rather the the new host IP for
this box.
When I booted it told me that this IP was in use by hardware addres ... ,
so I new immediately what I had done wrong. However, I could'nt get past
starting desktop ...
so I hit the switch (was I impatient? had waited about a minute) so I
tried booting with
ethernet removed. same thing. So I rebooted to single user. Now this gets
interesting. ed is only editor available, and it does seem to work as I
remember it, 1,$p only prints the first few lines of the file. OK, I guess
that's out. But wait emacs created a backup copy, so I try to rename the
file in order to use the emacs backup, but now I am informed that this is a
read only file system.
Any ideas please?
