Admins,

Back again with a new problem

I'm new to LSM and I am using Tru64 Unix File System Administration Handbook as
my guide. It is a very good source I highly recommend it. So...

I was following along the section on root file mirroring. The first task was to
encapsulate the root disk into LSM. With my current system I hadn't creating
any LSM volumes so I thought I would need to create one, so I did

volsetup rz17 (this was a free disk)

everything went well

then I did a

volencap rz17

Ok...the root file system is on rz16, why i entered rz17 is a mystery even to
me.

I then reboot the system expecting it to reboot 3 times...well it came up
without rebooting (I guess with nothing to encap it does this)

I then noticed my error, so I

volencap rz16

This gave me the expected result
now I need to use
disklabel -e rz17c
in order to make it ready for the mirror (yes I did volencap to the disk i
plan on mirroring)
It will not allow me to edit the label

Also i did a
disklabel -z rz17

and it looks as if it took, but it keeps claiming that I can not edit the label
and states a should do a

disklabel -rw rz17

which I did with no luck...I also removed the disk from volume group (this was
later)

voldg rmdisk rz17
zeroed out the label and tried editing it... no luck

any ideas,

Lee Brewer
