Applying patch kits: Stupid Question?

I'm reading reading the June 2001 version of the TRU64 UNIX and
TrueCluester Software Products Patch Kit Installation Instructions.

I'm at chapter 4.6 Performing Patch Preinstallation Check
Instructions.

I logged in as root.
I'm runing the dupatch utility.
I chose option (1) patch installation
fom the next menu screen I again chose option (1) Pre-Installation
Check Only

That was my idea I'd just do the pre-installation check to get my feet
wet. Supposedly the dupatch program will list the patches that apply to
my system. Compaq recommends that I install all of these patches not
just one or two of them.

So it does list out a bunch of patches and I did page through several
pages of patches but here is where I chickened out.

Last Menu Screen I got to:
========================================
Or you may choose one of the following options:
112) ALL of the above
113) CANCEL selections and redisplay menus
114) EXIT without installing any patches.
========================================

I chose option (114), I guess I chickened out. I mean something is not
right here. It was supposed to be checking stuff out and telling me
about it. From what I saw it only listed out the patches in the patch
kit. It did not tell me if there were any problems and it did not tell
me if everything looked good either.

What's up with that?

What does option (112) do?

I don't want to install anything at this point, shouldn't it say "112)
Check All of the above" because it could also mean "112) Install All of
the above". Its really scary because one of my patches has to go in in
single user-mode, and I was trying to run the check from multi-user
mode.
