SUMMARY: Trouble with SIA - "Login timed out"

Thank you for the suggestion to look at OpenSSH's code. Indeed, I tried
that, but still got the "Login timed out" message. However, when I wrote a
small test program with very similar code, the timeout disappeared.

I've given up the problem as unsolvable at this stage and have manually
added account-locking by using the getespwnam() and family of functions.
