Cluster VDUMP ...

Hi,

In a TruCluster v5.1, 2-node environment (which means everything including the O/S is on the RAID), is it necessary for one node to be shutdown to a "halt" stage, when doing a "vdump" backup of the other node in Single-user mode? The doubt arises as we usually backup "/", "/var" and "/usr" apart from all other application file systems using the vdump script. Hence, the question arises that if any files are open (even of the application - Oracle v8.1.7 OPS DB in this case) on the non-backing up node that is not shutdown to a "halt" stage, will vdump skip such open files or will the resultant vdump backup be "incomplete" in any way?

Would appreciate the opinion of experienced hands. Thanks.
