lpr size limits

Hi,

We have a xerox printer on another system that requires that the file
being printed have some header information inserted in it. I have
a script that sends the appropriate information and the file to lpr,
but the script fails when the file is larger than about 8MB with the
error that the file is too large to copy to spool. Normally I would
use the -s option on lpr to use a symbolic link, but in this case I
can't because of the pipe into lpr. Is there any way to increase the
size of file that can be spooled in lpr?
