Three responses to this question.
Two stated that they just changed the reference in /etc/rc.config from ee0
(or tu0) to alt0 and then rebooted and everything worked fine.
Dr. Tom Blinn stated that there may be many references to the network card
within the OS, all of which would require changing.
I think I will take the easier option i.e. just change the reference in
/etc/rc.config - if this doesn't work then Ill follow the Best Practice
procedure.

Me again I'm afraid !
We have a TruCluster V5.1 Patch Kit 3 in which all nodes are currently using
a DE600 100baseT ethernet cards to connect to the network. We will in the
near future be moving to a Gigabit interconnect using DEGPA cards.
The support for these cards has already been added to the kernel.
I have read the Best Practice on the Tru64 web page for changing the network
interface, and to say the least it looks messy !! - taking members out of
the cluster, and then re-instating them etc.
I noted also that this best practice is for V5.0A.
Does anyone know if the procedure is any easier for V5.1 or does anyone have
any experience of doing this ?
I had hoped that I could just use sysman to deconfigure the old network
interface and then configure the new interface.
