Original question:
Hello listers
I'm running TRU64 4.0 E on an AS 8200, and I trying to install Compaq
Advanced Server V5.0 ECO2 for UNIX. I don't have any window box acting
as PDC in the domain, so during asusetup I set my server as primary
(PDC). Why does the ASU server is not starting? I have not made anything
else besides asusetup. I download ASU from Compaq web site a few days
ago, is the installation that have two free connections.
The following was an attempt to start the server:

sunguide1 [/] # net start server
The SERVER service is starting......................................

The SERVER service could not be started.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 6126.
sunguide1 [/] # net helpmsg 6126

The SERVER service could not be started.

EXPLANATION

The SERVER service could not be started due to an error.

ACTION

Use "elfread" administrative command to read the Advanced Server event log
files to determine the cause of the problem. Restart the server after the
problem is fixed.

sunguide1 [/] # elfread system

Answer:

I think the command you want is:

# net helpmsg 6550

The required UNIX account '***' is not present.

I don't know if this is as a result of bad account mappings (mapuname may
give you a clue). If you've never got ASU to run I'd start from scratch.
Delete the software, remove any associated accounts and try again.
Having just run mapuname on my server on my desk I saw initially a load of
remnants from a previous config though "mapuname -p" has cleared this out.

Solution

I finally solved the problem performing setld -d ASUADM502 ASUMANPAGE502 etc..... include
all the modules that start with word ASU.
Then I re-install ASU, but during the asusetup I used a different Admin. password
(previously I was using the same password as root have), and I let all the default
assumptions as they where selected by the setup program. Later on I stopped the
server ' net stop server' and ran asusetup again to adjust my desire settings like
domain name.I think that the problem was solved when I used a different admin.
password because I tried several times to uninstall and reinstall ASU following
the same steps without success, The last installation of ASU I tried a different
password , and BOON!! it started the server at the end .
the following is a print out before the server was able to start.
