Change root's mailing name

I want to send a mail as root user to an SMTP address so that the sender
appears as "Root on Sopie1". I have edited the root entry in /etc/passwd as
follows: root:.vd1Lrknr74T2:0:1:Root on Sopie1 /:/bin/sh.
However the sender field is still appearing as 'System Privileged account'
when I check email on my workstation. What else do I need to change?
