Hi.. I have just tried to use the cpio command to backup a 4GB oracle export
file to tape ( just testing the tape really)
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle users 4007927808 Jul 31 08:18
exp_MAINSAVE_full.dmp
an error message appeared immediately ...
# cpio -ovcB < ./exp_MAINSAVE_full.dmp -O /dev/nrmt1h
cpio: : No such file or directory
cpio: DPCDBA : No such file or directory
cpio: RENTIRE : No such file or directory
cpio: 8192 : No such file or directory
cpio: 0 : No such file or directory
cpio: 48 : No such file or directory
cpio: 4000 : No such file or directory

The oracle is version 8.1.5 .... the export summary log showed successful .
Has anybody seen this before ? Does cpio have a problem with large files?
I am now using tar so no problem really , but if anyone with oracle 8.1.5
o.n.o can help it would be appreciated.
Our unix flavour is 4.0F PK4 . Thanks
