DOP not passing variables

Hello Guru's

We have tru64 V5.1 pk3 on a GS80. We're having trouble replacing our sudo
ksh scripts with DOP. DOP from the command line is not recognizing
variables. Example:

someuser> /usr/sbin/dop /usr/sbin/lpc clean some_printer
lpc>
just drops the into the lpc command, and does not execute the 2 variables
"clean" and "some_printer"

Were also getting something strange with lprm:

someuser> lpq -P rlp63
qad7.us.anritsu.com: Sat Jul 28 23:00:11 2001:
Rank Pri Owner Job Files Total Size
1st 0 root 728 (standard input) 497 bytes

someuser> /usr/sbin/dop /usr/sbin/lprm -P rlp63 728
remote host rlp0 got no response from remote printer PORT1 within 60 seconds
someuser>

No matter what rlp??? I use, it provides the rlp0 response. I've drilled
through the /etc/printcap, and there's no reason there.

Anybody been through this, and have it working?

Many thanks ahead of time,
