Also, is there a way to 'flash' these drives to wake em up. Reactivate them?

Subject: Tape Drives are Stuck!

Good Afternoon All,
My question is one that has been an issue on and off, but I thought I'd
throw it out there anyway.
I have an Alpha1200 running v5.0. Its used for tape processing,
therefore we have 6 4mm DAT drives, and 4 9track drives on this system. The
4mm's are one bus, and the 9's on another.
From time to time, these drives, any of them, will just stop responding.
No activity. And this will happen at any time. The drives will get stuck,
and remain that way for an unspecified amount of time. The only way to
clear it is to reboot. Because of these drives, I'm rebooting this server at
least 2ce a week.
Has anyone ever experienced this type of problem. Can anyone shed some
light on the direction I should be looking into to fix this issue. Its been
suggested that I check cabling, which has been done. Any other ideas?
