Well... I took everyones advice... Here are the steps I took:
1. Install adapter.
2. Boot /genvmunix
>>>boot -fl "/genvmunix" -fl s
3. Check and mount the local file systems:
# bcheckrc
4. Run donconfig.
# doconfig
Saved the old kernal, rebooted from new. At the SRM>> I did a sh dev and it
DOES see the new adapter and all the drives connected to it. However, when I
boot the 4100 with the new vmunix... no dice. It'll boot fine, but doesn't
see any of the drives. Even at the scu> doing a 'sh edt' - nada. See's all
BUT the new hardware. Any suggestions? At least I still have a functional
system. The new adapter is installed at the second to top pci slot...
first message follows:
Hey there...
I am going to add a KZPAA-AA adapter to a Alpha 4100 v4.0G this weekend. I
was told by our hardware supplier that installation was "just open it and
put it in - It'll work". I'm kinda hesitant. The 4100 does already have 2 of
these same cards in it, but do I need to make any kernal changes, special
boot proceedure, etc. ? This card is being installed to support another
BA350 shelf.
Thanks in advance...
