Summary: Frustrating, can't move the H partition

I really like this list, I can get good solutions back within a few minutes.

I had to manually edit the disklabel, this is done with the disklabel
program. This lets you hand tune the values for the disk partitions.
Using the command '/sbin/disklable -e /dev/rrz0c' , here's what I had
origianlly:

>8 partitions:
># size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg] #
>NOTE: values not exact
> a: 1048576 0 AdvFS #
>(Cyl. 0 - 1040*)
> b: 8192000 1048576 swap #
>(Cyl. 1040*- 9167*)
> c: 39102336 0 unused 0 0 #
>(Cyl. 0 - 38791)
> d: 0 0 unused 0 0 #
>(Cyl. 0 - -1)
> e: 0 0 unused 0 0 #
>(Cyl. 0 - -1)
> f: 0 0 unused 0 0 #
>(Cyl. 0 - -1)
> g: 8192000 9261001 AdvFS #
>(Cyl. 9187*- 17314*)
> h: 31238016 7864320 unused 0 0 #
>(Cyl. 7801*- 38791)

You'll notice that the h partition Cyl actually begins somewhere in
the B partition. I then changed h's begining cylinder to 17315.
Figuring out the size and the offset was a little tricker and I
probably didn't get the right numbers. Since the a,b, & g partitions
were marked as in use the disklabel program would not let me (or at
least I didn't go around the warning signs) overlap these partitions,
it also complained when I made the h partition too large and it
extended beyond the size of the disk.

Anyway after a nervous reboot I was able to get into the diskconfig
GUI. (I'm a sucker for a gui). The H partition is then available.
Though it took up only a small fraction of the available space. A
few clicks later I had a new h partition which used up all of the
remaining space on the HD.

Repeating the disklabel command, the new label has the following
description for the H partition:

  h: 21649335 17453001 AdvFS #
(Cyl. 17314*- 38791)

thanks for the help,
James
